Dr Farid ud Din Qadri
Hazrat Farid-e-Millat Dr Farid-ud-Din Qadri (1918-1974), the father of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, played a crucial role in freedom movement of Pakistan, receiving posthumous recognition through a gold medal and certificate by the government of Pakistan. His educational journey spanned Sialkot, Hyderabad Deccan, and the great seat of learning at Lucknow—Firangi Mahal, encompassing diverse disciplines. Taking spiritual allegiance from Hazrat Ibrahim Saif-ud-Din Gilani, he obtained permissions to transmit hadiths from the scholars of Two Holy Mosques. A qualified doctor, prominent poet and an eloquent orator, Dr Farid-ud-Din Qadri's contributions extended to the political arena, the historic Minar-e-Pakistan gathering, the 1945 elections and services for migrants at the time of partition. His dedication during the partition of sub-continent and posthumous acknowledgment of his services highlight his significant role in Pakistan's formative years, with his legacy preserved in the Farid-e-Millat Research Institute—home to his extensive library.
